Look up the spiders Hogna carolinensis , and Tegeneria gigantea on the net. See if they match your spider. They both get HUGE, and are in the USA. I have seen T. giganteas with at least a 3 inch legspan, possibly larger. H. carolinensis gets about a 4 inch legspan.
:Hello to everyone!
:Recently I have had a concern over spiders that I am finding in my apartment. One was the size of my hand. I contacted the Texas agricultural extension service and tried to give the best description of it that I could and the Entymologist guessed that it might be a Wolf Spider. I killed another one today and it was exactly like the other ones Ive killed. They look similar to a grass spider except that the first legs away from its "face" are black. I know this isnt much to go on, and I am trying to get a picture of one. I have a nice healthy fear of spiders even though I know they are beneficial to the insect world. Its just that I dont want them in my bed. What insecticides are recommended where pets are involved? Any help is appreciated.
