:My husband and I moved into our new homw in Jan - we've killed about 40 of some kind of wasp - black, brown eyes and wings, very fine white stripes in middle section, gold legs, about an inch long. One stung my daughter and I have had it. Can anyone help me figure out what we're dealing with? Thanks!

Where exactly do you live? It sounds like a vespid species, possibly a bald faced hornet. Without a pic it will be hard to identify them though. how big are they? what kind of nest do they have, and have you located it? It could be any number of species of wasps. I will add more info if I can find it.
