I live in middle Tn, and was hiking in the woods yesterday. I came across this wasp(?) and am very curious about it. It is an inch and a half long. When I looked up pictures of yellow jackets it kind of resembles those, except the colors are inverted. The bottom half of it is black, and it has black and yellow stripes(3 yellow stripes) on its upper hind end. the legs/wings/eyes are reddish brown. If anyone knows, please tell me. I have been trying to find out what it is since I found it. I have never seen a wasp/hornet this big before. Thanks alot.
