:::I am trying to work this thing, type in cicada killer hornets, they are harmless, the male doesent have a stinger and the female uses hers to paralyze the cicada, controlling the amount of cicadas, if you can get over the heebi jeebis they are a joy and keep alot of people from my front door, my 5 year old has named them, they will be gone in 2 weeks we will miss them till next year good luck:

I have to disagree w/you about them being harmless. Just because the male cannot sting, doesn't mean that the female can't/won't sting if provoked. They're not aggressive but......That doesn't mean that they are harmless. I would not mess with these creatures or their hills/tunnels during the day while they're active.
