It was a girl that I know that had one growing up. I've question her several times on it, including once just yesterday. I think what it boils down to is that either the pet shop or her parents probably fibbed to her. She won't back down on her view - I'm 100% sure she completely believes that it wasn't venomous.

Me being fairly ignorant in the subject, I just wanted to make sure this wasn't possible. I had to play 100 questions last weekend just to figure out how to properly take care of my new critter....
