:Andy, do you have an E. Tiaratum right now, or have kept one before? I have one right now, and it's laying about 4 eggs a day. Is this normal? Also, if reproducing via parthenogenesis, will there be genetic fatigue? If I don't heat the eggs up a bit, will they still hatch?
:Thanks!
hi james,
iīm keeping and breeding E.ts for roughly 10 years know :-)
first, itīs absolutly normal for them to lay this amount. they can even lay more. for incubation get a box with clean humus or vermiculite with just some airholes, keep it moist so it cannot dry out. temp should be about 23-26° celsius. it can take about 5-8 month for them to hatch.
and itīs not a problem if itīs parthogenetic. E.t can do fine without males, but it depends on the stability of your tribe.
many E.t. keeepers experienced problems, that after a while nymphs died for no reason after reaching subadult stage.
if you donīt want the eggs to hatch you can either heat them up in a microwave of lay them in the fridge. but i woud suppose first to see how many nymphs you can get :-)
hope this helps a bit
greetings
andy
