In Reply to: Are leaf bugs harmless to orchids? posted by Mantiss on August 03, 2002 at 18:21:42:
:I am not sure what the technical term of this insect is....but they resemble small plant leaves. I am sure there are many species but my quesiton is....what do they typically eat? Are they harmful to plants (orchids in particular)? I love these insects but my girlfriend is worried about them eating her orchids. Any flower people out there that can help? I do not want to harm them.
:Thanks for the help.

Leaf insects eat plant matter, their staple diet consists of bramble(blackberry, rasberry), rose, and privet. Would they eat orchids? Doubtful, but it is possible. Other than that, they are harmless very interesting phasmids./
