:This guy was scuttling around on the patio table today, and I managed to get a couple of shots. In the sun, this animal was a bright, metallic golden color, which the picture doesn't really show. A very small fellow, about 1/8 inch long, and very opposed to having his picture taken! I was lucky to get this shot at all, and have no idea what kind of jumping spider he/she is.
Apparently, this animal is very obscure, like many of San Diego's less obvious spiders. I'm supposed to go on a hunt tomorrow for Apostenus and Zanomys californicus, and I've found absolutely nothing about them on the net. The gold jumper is also totally obscure...what's up with that? You'd think there'd be some kind of info on them. Spiders seem sadly underobserved here. Everybody knows Phiddipus Johnsoni, cuz they have spectacular coloring. But the little gold guy is also pretty damned cool...what is WRONG with people???
