:alright, the part i was worried about it finally over, i have them in a butter container right now cuz i was a lil unprepared(easter is when i found them), there was only 2 to start out w/ and they are both looking healthy. i have a couple questions...after i get the ten gallon tank(getting this tomorrow), what should i do for water?? a dish would be too deep, im thinking a sponge?? do they burrow or should there be lots of wood to hide under? also, what are temps/humidity for babies? how do i feed them? ive never seen crickets that small before. thanks a lot.

KC,

If the scorps are still continuing to stay for long periods of time on their mother's back, you should leave them in the enclosure they are in now, while just getting all other scorps out of it, if there are any. As for a sponge being in use, it is a breeding area for bacteria and is not recommended by myself unless it's replaced every couple days. I would choose a bottle cap from a glass bottled Coke because they are very shallow and there are virtually no chances that the scorplets could drown in one of them (this would be my recommendation for the young). As for the mother, misting the enclosure should sustain her until the young venture off of her back for good. I use different hides for young...bark, large leaves, partially decomposed tree stumps, etc. (as long as the young have many places to sneak away from the mother). As far as temp and humidity, they can be kept at the same recommendaed for their adult counterparts. I prefer 80/80 (80% humidity/80 degrees Fahrenheit). You can get pinhead crickets at almost any petstore and they will sustain the young, or, as a fellow enthusiast just mentioned on another forum, you can remove the head of the adult cricket and the young scorps will scavenge on it's body.

adios,
edw.
