Edward, I was thinking the exact same thing. When I got my first scorp (ah, how time flies!) the dealer told me it was female because it had bigger 'flappy things' underneath it. In actuallity, males have larger pectines, my dealer was wrong. It happens. I have never heard of a male eating more than a female--and while males will kill, they usually don't eat their victim, esp. not the whole thing. They may have mated and she (if it's a she) wanted some extra energy. It's not unheard of, though not as common as some might say.
Keep us updated,
Chris
