Well, I have a tendency to mount the heat pad for a rainforest scorp in a smaller tank on the side of the tank, rather than the bottom. They will burrow downward to escape heat and if the pad is on the bottom, they don't burrow into anything but heat. With extremely large tanks, there is always enough room that they have a very slight chance of burrowing into the pad, so that's when I put pads on the bottom. I also do the bottom of the tank mounting for some desert species. A scorpion will pretty much eat anything, but I'm not exactly positive on whether they'll just turn up their nose, so-to-speak, with wax worms. You can always try it and see what happens. As far as feeding quantities, just feed little scorps until they don't eat what else is put in the enclosure with them. They'll get to the next moult faster that way. Definitely feed them as much of a variety of insects as possible. A differentiating diet is very healthy for scorps.
adios,
