I went outside yesterday morning to let the dog out for awhile. She started barking at and pouncing on this large white thing in the yard, so I went over to see what it was. It was a large moth looking thing, so I brought it in and started trying to figure out what kind it was so I could care for it and such. It's body is about 3" long and about as big around as someones pinky finger. The body itself if black with dark blue horizontak lines circling it. It's legs are kind of thing and they too are dark blue and black. It's wing are white with lepard like spots on them, and it has a semi-large white head with short thin aentena (sp?). I've never seen anything like it around the area -Southern Indiana. If anyone can help me to identify it I'd appreciate it. And if someone could possibly tell me what kind of habitat to make for it that'd me great. Alot of the dust on the tips of it's wings is gone, and it can't fly. As much as I don't mind it crawling around on me or my curtains, I do mind watching the cats to make sure they don't eat it. Thanks much.
