:::Aiight so I've been researching m-pedes for a while now, they are such fascinating little inverts. However, I have read that some mites are beneficial whereas others are parasitic and must be removed. So... What do the two diff types look like?

:::Thanks for any info! :)

::From what I'm experiencing the mites that live on your millipedes are benificial and good unless they get rediculous, the soil mites wich I am having a problem with need to be controlled. I am buying predatory mites which take care of the bad ones and limit their breeding. I would consider changing the substrate but I have a lot of baby millipedes and don't want to move them. I will post how it goes.

:Could you possibly post a photo(s) of the babies? (I've never seen them before) Thanks :)
:

Alas, I can not. My digital camera never worked right and I cannot get images to my computer from it. The babies I first noticed wewr white-ish and had legs only on their front half of their bodies. Within weeks they looked like little adults of at least three of my species of millipede. They resemble their parents quite soon. The red masks of the red legs showed very fast. The long antenne of the pied millipedes were also easy to recognise their young are not very colorful but still easy to compare. The only problem with seeing them is they do not hang out on the substrate they tend to be seen through the glass on the side of the tank. If you are lucky you will see one or two, once you have noticed you have them, randomly searching for food.
They do seem to posess better eyesight than the adults or are more weary they are vounerable so they hide like mad.
I'll post further updates. J
