::It seems like nobody ever posts subject matter here about the waste "Pellets" that the pedes make! Let me say something here. Not all females lay their eggs deep down in the soil! They cover their eggs in soil material and it resembles feces. I'd be careful picking up the waste cause there may be eggs inside. What i do is to leave it alone. I go out in a large field that's NOT been sprayed with insecticide and search for those ordinary "small" pill bugs or sow bugs. What they do is eat the feces of the giant millipedes and won't bother the ones that are covered with eggs. I never have to pick out waste matter ever since. I've been using this method for over 10 years and never loosed any eggs to "pill bugs". I put no more than one dozen in my large 55 gallon tank. The pill bugs will eventually start to populate by the dozens in no time... They won't bother the millipedes. Just eat the feces and that's about it... hope this info helps others raising giant pedes..

: I tried this method but kept getting dicouraged that I thought my millipedes were breeding and it was only the pillbugs. Do you have breeding sucess with this method? Please post if so. Also what humidity and temperature range have you found best? Thank you for any other info you can give.
:From Robt Szymanski: I never had problems with pill bugs bothering or eating the balls of waste where the eggs are inside. Baby pedes look like tiny grub worms. Very transulcent whitish in color. they get darker as they get older and larger. I try to keep the temperature in the tank on the warm side in the winter and early spring, but don't have to in the summer. I noticed that past 80 degrees F, the giant millipedes won't eat, just drink water or eat the apples or oranges i put in the tanks. ....
