well i didn't do it intentionally, my female paradoxa laid so many small ootheca so i thought they were infertile and just left them in the tank. Bone dry and fairly cold, and i was very surprised that it actually hatched. I broke one in half and it still hatched. The ones on the floor with the opening faicing up and the opening facing the bottom of the floor still hatched successfully!...but this was just an accident, so i wouldn't advise trying it, unless you are prepare to risk hatchlings..like i did. Well it's just an observation, quite interesting if you ask me. And my theory behind this is, sometimes ootheca laid on branches or twigs might fall and end up being on the floor. So mantids have evolved to enable hatching even if the ootheca was on the floor to keep it's specie going. Well this is just based on general logic, with no scientific theory behind it. Would be nice if i can find out the real theory behind it.

Sorry to drag on abit
