Hello all,

Live in the western US, and have kept many a mantid as a pet when I was younger. Not sure exactly what kind they were, I suspect they were chinese mantids that are native here. Rather large (5 inches) and green. The arms have what look like fake eyes on the inside of them. Anyway, never seriously took care of them, and lost many within a week or two of capture.

So I've decided to start keeping them as a serious pet, and want to be sure I am doing what I can to ensure thier success. My main question is concerning the "cage". I am not sure what kind of container is best. Due to temp/humidity concerns, is it better to have a container that is plastic with a screen top? Or is it ok to have a full screen or mesh container? I plan on raising the gongy and/or ghost mantid types. Also, anyone have a pic of a chinese or european mantid ootheca? I think I may have found one in the yard, but I'm not certain. Thanks
