I've found from personal experience that my Katy loved weeping mulberry leaves the best--huge juicy leaves. But if you don't have those around, give it a variety of leaves to choose from. My Katydid lived for 3 months (who knows how old it really was b/c I found it in a field). I had a shallow dish from a Barbie doll set I had as a child and it bathed/drank from it. They are such intelligent and fascinating creatures!!! The only reason I didn't start trying to rear them was because my mom wouldn't allow more "bugs" in the house :). Allow your child to enjoy his exploration of insects--it will help with creativity later in life, possibly leading to a scientific career like it did for me.
