If you are dealing with fruit flies then you need to track down where they are coming from. Do you keep any fruits or vegetables sitting out in the open or in a pantry or somewhere accessible to the adult flies. They will lay their eggs on such items and as the fruit/veggie begins to rot, the maggots hatch and feed off them. Later they will pupate and emerge as adult flies. When one is confronted with an "infestation" it usually means that *somewhere* in the house (usually the room where the majority of the flies are noted) there is a food source of something they like that is rotting and they are feeding/propogating from. Last time I was faced with such, it was due to an old sack of potatos that were in a wooden bin and forgotton about. Dumped the potatoes, cleaned out the bin, the remaining adult flies eventually die off. No need for insecticides. Keeping potatoes in the fridge from now on
