Tanya -- I have seen one of these BIG flies too. This looked just like a common housefly but was at least 2" big. It was under my outside light on the side of my house - my daughter had it in a container - but my son (19) released the blasted thing. I was going to take it to my old highschool science teacher but now I don't have it - guess I will have to keep an eye out nightly for another speciman and if I do happen to see another I will get a picture of it. I live in Western NY (Whitesville, Allegany Co., NY on the Steuben Co., NY & Potter Co., PA border) and I have NEVER seen a fly like this and I am 44 yrs old.
