I live in eastern South Dakota and have been given what appears to be a huge fly. It is black in color, even the wings are black but remain somewhat transparent. It's head is black also but in the sunlight appears to shine in multi-colors. It is huge, measuring (from sitting wing tip to the tip of 2 antena on the center of its head, or face in front) 3 cm. It is not a deer fly or a blue fly. Anyone have any ideas?? Never seen one this big before!!
