My wife and I are extremely clean individuals. We dispose our garbage twice a week and do not leave rotten fruits, vegetables or spoilt foods around. Our yard is free from manure, rotten vegetation, etc etc. We are very mystified with a swarm of flies that appears from nowhere. Our doors and windows are always closed also all of the doors and windows have an insect barrier or mesh. We have killed about 100 flies within the last two days on the inside windows. After a few hours flies would appear again and we would repeat the elimination process. The flies are about a ¼ inch long and are greenish in color on the back. They are sluggish in flight and larger that house flies. Where can these flies originate from? Of what species are they? Do they transmit any diseases? How can I determine if the flies are coming from the outside or pupating from maggots inside the house? Can a newly hatched fly be ¼ inch long? What can I use to deter or kill the flies apart from our broom? We would be very greateful for your help in resolving this mystery.Thanks
