Although I am neither catholic nor was I around at the inseption of the song, I can see that the explanation given in the rebuttal to the song is flawed, ("...What we do know is that the twelve days of Christmas in the song are the twelve days between the birth of Christ (Christmas, December 25) and the coming of the Magi.." The 12 days preclude Christmas not follow, and it was probably more than 2 years after Christ's birth before the Magi arrived.) circular logic, and offers no valid explanation other than to seek to discredit it and villianize it's proponents.
