:I am really interested in keeping crickets or Katydids- not for breeding or feeding, but more for the pure pleasure of their noise. I am faced with a number of difficulties however:
:1. I live in the UK- can anyone suggest where I can obtain my crickets?
:2. Is it possible to still keep crickets in antique style cages with bars similar to those that would have been used in ancient china?
:3. If so, what breeds are best- I guess obviously some of the larger species to avoid escape. . . . . ?
:4.Which breeds are best if you are particularly interested in the sound or song produced?
:Help!
Go to the nearest pet store, and chances are they will have house crickets, I don't know anything else that is commonly kept that makes noise.
The small cages can be used, but be sure to get real ones, some come with a toy cricket inside, these are sueless as the bars are spaced to far apart.
Hopefully somone more knowledgeable will hwlp you too, hopefully...
