I'm going to visit a Reptile & Exotic Animal Show in a week's time, and would like to buy a Peruvian Giant Centipede due to it's size, it's boldness and info from others that this species does not hide so much. However, I have to wonder how difficult they are to come by. Anyone have an idea of whether I'll be able to find one at the show, or is it nearly a foregone conclusion that I won't?
Also, I have a 20-gallon long aquarium set up for one now, and bought an under-tank heating pad rated for a 30-40 gallon tank. I placed the heater under one side of the tank to create a temperature gradient. However, the "warm" side of the tank only reads 74° F (23° C). The "cold" side reads 72° F. I am aiming for 85° F (29° C). Anyone have any suggestions? Replace the heating pad with the one meant for 55-gallon tanks? Put another pad on the other side of the tank? Block the screen mesh covering the aquarium?
Thanks,
David
