:I think you'll find, that's what centipedes do.If it never comes out how do you inspect it? do you dig it out of the dirt?
:I've got a vietnam centipede(scolopendra subspinipes) and since I've had it, I've seen it for no more than ten minutes in total.What are you feeding it? Mine pops out, grabs a cricket then goes under again! this can all be over in 60 seconds.
:hope this helps

::Hi,
::I have a small mexican red head (I think!) centipede, and I'm not sure if it's ok...
:: It hasn't eaten since I got it, and never come up from underground, ever. Whenever I inspect it, it just rushes (at a very high speed) away, burying itself...so it can't be ill. What gives?
::Thanks.

I have a S heros. He likes to burrow under the waterbowl, so I move the waterbowl around every once in a while. Hell spend a couple days underground, then be up for a couple of days. He spends most of his active time trying to climb out. He is about 8" long and lives in a 20 gal long. From what I read about most keepers he oughta be counting his blessings for having so much room. When I first got him I had the 20 gal partitioned off for 3 others, but ive been removing sections as I give them away, so now hes all alone. I think it was easier for him to catch crickets in the smaller enclosure tho, or else the crickets are just getting smarter.
