I'll have to look into this further. It comes to my attention, that some butterfly caterpillars delay morphing; and overwinter as caterpillars till the spring when they complete the process. I'll keep you posted, becuase it might be in the caterpillars best interest to leave him out there. Only if it turns out to be one of these sp. that do that.
