Well, the chrysalis needs to be suspended in air, from a twig/branch/etc. Why I believe it to be a butterfly is, it was hanging from a plant. Most moths don't have a chrysalis, they pupate like butterflies but rather differently; they cocoon themselfs in leaf clutter. So quite possibly it's a butterfly.
They need plenty of room and humidity for when the butterfly breaks through it needs to flap it's wings. To pump the blood though it. Paper toweling needs to be taped to the top of the jar and hanging down to the bottom, and a moist pad of paper toweling in the container to keep humidity high. When the adult emerges, it will climb onto the towel to allow wings to expand and dry.
:well I found this little guy at work in the fresh parsley, good thing too, cuz it coulda be part of someones dinner.... I dunno If it is even still alive, but I am gonna give it a chance... I think that as long as it didn't freeze it should be okay..
:I am new to the butterfly world, but have good standing with other insects and critters, so how do I go about caring for it so it may give me a purty butterfly or moth one day?
:does it need warmth, humidity, anything special? Would also like to figure out what species it is. I am in florida. but being that our produce comes from all over it could have come from anywhere in the world.....
:any help or ideas would be great!!!
