Hi Mike,

They are not butterfly eggs, they are Aphids, or Milkweed bugs. They are very interesting creastures, best seen under a microscope. Tan in color, have suckers on them, and they suck out the sweetness on the milkweed plant. Very important to the ecosystem, the regulate the populations of the plant. If you get the chance, when the aphids get older, take a pill bottle or something with rubbing alcohol and get some in there. When they die, try to get them under a microscope and look at them. They're beautiful, in a 'bug' sense.
