Unknown Insects on Pine Tree

Over the past few nights I have observed a large swarm(100+) of insects in/flying around/near the house around our pine tree in the backyard. They only come out after about 8:30 PM and are gone in the morning. I dont think they are bees because I don't see a nest. I am thinking they are some sort of beetle, but am not sure. Could anyone shed some light on this case? Maybe identify the type of insect and or offer a solution to get rid of them?
Thanks very much!
