Why do ants carry off other dead ants? Do they take them back to the nest as food or is there a burial place for their dead comrads? Or is this proof of some sort? Some ants got on my desk & I smashed them one by one w/ my finger. I went off & did a few things & returned later to find all of the smashed ants gone. They had been carried off by other ants. Why? I find this very fascinating.
