Posted by John on September 22, 2001 at 14:22:33: Hi y'all, I found a very hairy ant at a friend's house. It wasn't red and black striped like in the other post. If I remeber right, it was all black. It was very large for an ant and didn't move too fast. Would this be another type of "velvet ant"? We weren't sure what it was, so we didn't try to pick it up or anything, and we wouldn't know if it can sting or not :o). If it was a "velvet ant", do my friends need to worry that there are more of them by their house? Thx, - John
